The HHH is situated at the historic building of the former "Vigadó" (Entertainment Hall) of Buda. The building is located in Fő utca (High Street), between Batthyány tér (Batthyány Square) and Clark Ádám tér (Adam Clark Circus).
How to get to the Hungarian Heritage House by public transportation?
Take subway (Metro) No. 2 (the red line) to "Batthyány tér", and walk two blocks southwards on Fő utca
Take bus No. 86 and get off at "Szilágyi Dezső tér"
Take tram No. 19 or 41 and get off at "Halász utca"
The building was designed in an eclectic style by Aladár Árkay and Mór Kallina, and was constructed between 1898-1900. The relative simplicity of the façade is contrasted by a rich Are Nouveau ornamentation in the interior.
The building was designed to serve the multiple cultural needs of the contemporary Buda middle-class. It was a cultural complex comprised of a theater, a library, a café and a restaurant.
The most impressive parts of the interior are the hall with its columns and wide marble staircase, the ornamented lounge, and the adjacent auditorium. Read more...
